2019 John Lucas Rising Stars Invitational
This year’s camp was really a fun experience. We had a very talented group from top to bottom and they really came to camp ready to learn and compete. It was really encouraging to see players at this age playing unselfishly and more than anything just being in shape. We had the best of the best from every part of the country and as far as France. It is clear to see that if this group continues the pace, they are on it can be a very highly recruited group.
This is a list of players who jumped out as I evaluated the competitive drills and games, and really separated themselves by the different skill sets they showcased.

Christian Jones Legacy School of Sports Science Brookshire, TX 2025 5’2 102 G
A very high energy Pg. that flew all over the court making plays on both ends. Showed great skill creating space from his defender and shooting at a high rate and finished very well in
Tim Winkler III Murphy Junior High Plainsfield, IL 2025 6’2 145 F
He has loads of potential. He moves very well for his size and showed good footwork and ability to finish well in the paint. Did a great job of rim protecting and rebounding all weekend? He also showed he had a smooth stroke from 3.
Calvin Murphy III Fort Bend Christian School Houston, TX 2025 5’5 115 G
Highly skilled guard that showed a very smooth and efficient shooting stroke. He dominated offensively throughout the camp.
De’Shon Scott Pro Vision Academy Houston, TX 2025 6″2 196 C
Big strong forward that imposed his will in the paint all weekend. He rebounded at a high level and made good choices pushing the ball in transition.
Jaden Holt Woodcreek Junior High Fulshear, TX 2025 5’4 125 G
A strong complete PG. Consistently showed the ability to make the right plays. Shoots the ball well and made nice plays for his teammates.
Wiggy Ball Starkville Academy Starkville, MS 2025 5’5 115 G
He really jumped out on Day 1 with his ability to score effortlessly on all levels. He played hard on defense and always seemed to be in the right place. He was really one of the surprise standouts this weekend.
Bryson Wheatfall Jones Middle School Humble, TX 2025 5’7 104 G
He is a strong guard with good size, that plays with a nice pace to his game. He shot the ball very well all camp and finished strong in the paint consistently. Shows potential to be a nice prospect as he continues to develop.
Elijah Favela Judson Middle School Converse, TX 2025 5’10 140 G/F
A smooth wing that shot the ball well all weekend and showed he can finish well in traffic. He was consistent and aggressive all camp and really separated himself from the pack.
Aiden Buckmon Collins Intermediate The Woodlands, TX 2025 5’0 95 G
Strong aggressive confident guard that played very efficient with the ball in his hands. He finished well in the paint and showed a knack for making the right passes under pressure.
Eian Lowe Kinkaid Houston, TX 2025 4’10 70 G
High energy tough fearless guard that finished well in traffic and showed a nice shooting touch all weekend. He stood out as one of the best defenders all weekend.
Julius Malone Lewis Middle School Aldine, TX 2025 6’0 150 C
This kid is a coach’s dream. He does all the things you want from a big. He was active changing shoots and rebounding on defense. He seemed to enjoy setting picks and rolling and finished very well in the paint all weekend. He even showed nice versatility facing and attacking and knocking down mid-range shots.
Ian Inman Mitchell Intermediate Woodlands, TX 2025 5’6 110 G
A hard-working wing that jumped out with his energy. Great to see him want to always take on the challenge to guard the other team’s top players. He showed confidence finishing in traffic and competing for rebounds on both ends. He showed he can knock down three pointers that allowed him to keep defenders off balanced.
Trae Lewis Tom Cox Intermediate School Spring, TX 2025 5’1 90 G
Aggressive speedy pg. that did a really good job of finishing in the paint and finding teammates off the dribble. He showed an improved shooting stroke and consistently made plays on defense.
Quinn De Groot Coulson Tough The Woodlands, TX 2025 5’1 95 G
His ability to catch and shoot efficiently really stood out. He showed a nice floater when attacking the paint and really played with energy on defense and in the passing lanes.
Elijah Black Garland McMeans Junior High Houston, TX 2025 5’2 85 G
A high energy fast pg. that did a great job pushing the tempo all camp and consistently attacked the paint and finished and made plays for his teammates.
Drew Johnson Durham School of the Arts Durham, NC 2025 5’0 95 G
He showed and very consistent and confident lefty stoke from the perimeter all camp. He played with a high IQ and showed he can make plays off the dribble.
Shelton Henderson Tanglewood Middle Houston, TX 2025 5’8 140 G/F
An aggressive playmaking guard that did a great job of creating for his teammates. He also proved he can get create for himself very efficiently as well.
Robert Gill Ronald McNair Middle School Pearland, TX 2025 5’1 85 G
Fast aggressive pg. that excelled in transition finding teammates for great looks and shoot he has a nice shooting stroke from the perimeter.
Tristan Hankins Parmelee Oklahoma City, OK 2025 5’4 G
He really stood out this weekend with ability to knock down shots very effectively. He balanced his shooting with nice playmaking off the dribble
Marvin Schindler Emmons South Bend, IN 2025 4’9 82 G
Very aggressive high level on ball defender. Used his aggressive defense to create scoring opportunities all camp.
Anthony Andrews III Spillane Middle School Houston, TX 2025 6’4 177 C
He is very mobile for a young big, showed good moves in traffic and played with a good motor. Really showed a nice shooting stroke from outside on Day 2. Consistently rebounded and contested shoots all weekend.
Michael Collins Ronald E McNair Jr high Pearland, TX 2025 5’4 110 G
He is a high energy guard that flew all over the court with his effort. It was great to see that despite how fast and aggressive he played he did a great job of valuing the ball and not turning it over.
Johnny Khoury Trinity Lutheran Spring TX 2025 5’2 95 G
Earned my ‘Hard Hat’ Award this weekend. He was the ideal effort guy. He flew around the court all camp competing and never giving up on plays. He caused multiple steals each game just by his intense effort and energy. Offensive he showed good IQ always understanding spacing and showed he could knock down threes. Perfect glue guy.
Dorian Hayes Ronald Thornton Missouri City, TX 2025 5’5 115 F
He is a high motored forward that seemed to enjoy mixing it up on both ends of the floor. Use his effort to make plays on defense by consistent shots and rebounding. He ran hard in transition and finished strong with contact.
Milak Dorsey myatt Saint Raymond Philadelphia, PA 2025 5’8 130 G
Nice sized wing that showed strength and confidence making plays. Nice shooting stroke and high upside.

William Pinkard Birnham Woods Spring, TX 2026 4’11 82 G
One of the most complete Pg.’s I have seen at this age. He showed the ability and vision to create scoring opportunities for his teammates, very good burst in his change of pace to keep defenders of balanced, and one of the most efficient shooters I have seen at his age. I was most impressed with his improvement on defense, he was consistent and created turnovers with his pressure on the ball.
Morgan Luzey Mitchell The Woodlands, TX 2026 5’0 75 G
Hard nose competitive pg. that impacted the game on both ends all camp with his effort and IQ. Showed nice shooting touch from the perimeter and did a nice job of making plays off the dribble.
Trae Nunn Canterbury Episcopal Dallas TX 2026 6’1 175 G/F
He is a big body forward that showed a much-improved handle, especially in transition. He has developed a smooth shooting stroke and was crafty creating space to get his shot off. If he continues his growth on the defensive end and rebounding has all the tools to be a nice prospect.
Randy Livingston Panther Run Elementary Florida 2026 5’5 98 G
He and his game has really grown since last year. It was nice to see him playing with more confidence and aggression. He finished well with contact and showed nice floor vision.
Jayden Wilkins Lakejoy Elementary Fairburn, GA 2026 5’1 90 G
The young guard showed a very nice shooting stroke and grows more confident each game. He shows nice potential as a prospect.
Loukas Naum Coursing Tough The Woodlands, TX 2026 5’0 90 G
He caught my eye as one of the most fearless young guards. He has good speed and really finished well with contact. He really used his speed to pressure the ball on defense and showed good timing in making plays on the weak side.
